Clackamas County Commissioners Lobbying for 66 & 67

Posted in
One piece of mail really caught my eye today and I am fit to be tied about
it.

It is from Clackamas County Board of Commissioners - a postcard titled "Info
About Ballot Measures 66 and 67" Have you all received this? I am certain it
has been mailed to all residents of Clackamas County. Take a close look.

It goes on to point out what a yes vote would mean and what a no vote would
mean. The no vote statements are ALL NEGATIVE in terms of cutting budgets
across Oregon in Education, Juvenile Justice, Human Services and the Justice
Department - all citing numbers provided by the very agencies themselves.
Since the Legislature must make the decision of where the money will get cut
from, this is a bold face lie.

The yes side speaks about money provided for these same state services.

It is a blatant attempt to force a yes vote without actually coming out and
saying so. This message is absolutely no different than one that the public
employee unions would send.

I don't know about you but I RESENT my Country Commissioners using MY money
to send me an information card about a ballot referendum. They have
absolutely no business doing that. Frankly I beleive it is illegal but I will
leave it to the smart legal conservatives out there who should really examine
this. I would love to see a lawsuit filed against the county for this one.
Even though they did not come out and tell anyone how to vote, the INTENT to
lead a voter into a yes vote is absolutely implied.

I urge all of you to call the commissioners on and blast them for their
obvious and illegal attempt to use taxpayer funds to influence the outcome of
a citizen referendum.

The county site does not show the individual e-mail addresses for the
commissioners. Why should they? These cowards don't want to hear from you.

Da Noive 'a Some Peoples!

Yeah, I got it, too, and it irritated me, as well. It ought to be against the law for a governmental body to pressure voters like that, ya know? Oh, that's right, they've forgotten how to serve. Evidence: deceptive ballot titles, useless public meetings pretending to listen, arrogant presumption that government "revenue" is more important that taxpayer survival, and on and on and on....
