Dear Representative Blumenauer; Senator Wyden:
As I continue to watch the events unfolding over the State of Arizona’s decision to take on the massive illegal alien problem in their own state, I cannot stay silent any longer.
I applaud their decision and fully support what they need to do. The United States Congress and the President (current and past) have failed us miserably when it comes to border enforcement and controlling the flow of illegal aliens and terrorists into our nation.
Never in my life did I ever think I would live to see the day when the elected representatives of the citizens of this country would be ignoring us and representing citizens of foreign lands who broke the law to gain illegal entry into our country. Putting party ideology and pandering for votes ahead of the needs of American citizens I have watched your voting record on immigration related issues with much dismay.
You have been in Congress for what seems like an eternity. That means that you share in the responsibility for the immigration mess we now have in America. You have chosen to ignore the problem, pander to immigration special interests groups, vote against sensible measures which would stop the flow of illegal aliens or cut out the availability of jobs. You continue to support chain migration and birthright citizenship, policies that continue to provide magnets for more illegal activity.
You cannot escape your immigration voting record – it is all there for us to see on the NumbersUSA website.
As I result, I have been forced to watch foreign nationals march in the streets of our cities demanding Congress give them amnesty, rights and benefits. I watch with disgust feeling anger with our elected officials all across this country. Mayors declaring sanctuary cities for illegal aliens, county officials providing day labor sites, state agencies not checking for citizenship and handing out everything from social service benefits to drivers licenses to voter registration cards. No other country on earth would be this ignorant when it comes to people who are in their country illegally. It is a policy of national suicide and the destruction of our sovereignty.
I suppose the final straw was watching Mexico’s President Calderon lecturing us in America about our immigration policy. Our own President, who said the Arizona legislation is “misguided”, even though it is modeled after the Federal Immigration law, encourages him.
Think about it — a foreign leader comes to the U.S., bashes a state within the U.S. for doing something that it’s well within their constitutional rights to do. He also spreads lies about the actual language of the law and we have members of Congress stand and cheer. I cannot help but believe that you were probably one of those members cheering against the citizens of America.
You may have one chance to right all the wrongs of your past votes on immigration. DO NOT SUPPORT “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” which is nothing more than a code name for amnesty. The people of this country do not want that. We want existing laws to be strengthened and enforced. We want the borders closed airtight. We want social service benefits cut off for those in this country illegally. We want the e-verify system to be mandatory for all employers across the nation. If you cut off the jobs, the majority of illegals will self-deport. If they cannot find work, they will not stay. It is really that simple.
I take no pleasure in telling you that you are part of the most irresponsible Congress ever elected into office. From immigration to out of control spending to massive debt to bailouts to taxation and the abomination of the Health Care bill.
The founding fathers of this great nation warned us about the danger of political party and “career politicians”. You happen to be one of these “career politicians” who now does more harm than good for our great nation.
It is time for you to step aside and allow someone with new ideas and a clear head represent the people of our state/district. I would hope that you would not seek re-election or resign your position. If not, I will do everything in my power to see you defeated in the next election.
Sincerely,
Alan Grosso
